South Carolina Awareness and Rescue for Equines, Inc. is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization located in Lexington, which ensures that all equines in the State of South Carolina live in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment. Their mission is to spread public awareness and education concerning the welfare of equines. In order to guarantee the welfare and safety of all the equines in the state, S.C.A.R.E. works with county Humane Society Chapters, Animal Control Offices and Law Enforcement Offices as well. S.C.A.R.E. also assists in the investigation of equine abuse or neglect cases in South Carolina and provides foster / adoptive homes and quality rehabilitative care for equines in need.
